  1. Past hour
  2. It should last a few decades depending on the manufacturing quality of the board. Typically a chip should last well over several decades without issue. The boards tend to be made much worse than the chips and may need swapping.
  3. Ahh, fair, that's the disconnect. Though I know some people don't have great luck with Storage Spaces.
  4. Is the monitor driver newer than the windows update
  5. I've got a cabinet and crossover, but neither original to the speaker system which it came out of. Great suggestion with the phase, I'll try that.
  6. Id say upgrade ya gpu maybe step up the ram to 32gb
  7. I actually didn't read most of your post But I'm willing to bet a lot of your concerns would be fixed with a modded version of windows. Lmg is kinda up in the air regarding privateering , but effectively if you paid for it you should be able to modify it to your hearts content

no that was a joke lol
  9. How long should the 5800X3D last, or AM4 in general for gaming and usability? I am on my 2nd daily driver/gaming build (which has been upgraded a few times already, R5 5600G to R7 5800X3D), but I stuck with FM2 socket from 2012 - 2023 with the A10-5500 to A10-5800K and then A10-6800K, from the integrated all the way up to RX 580 GPU. R7 5800X3D is the maxed-out chip for AM4 right? They are releasing new chips somehow, but they can't outdo the 5800X3D in that socket, right? Like with the FM2 the GPUs got obsolete, so I upgraded them, but it took a long time for the A10 CPUs to really be totally trash, it was running FS2020 at 1080p low/med at 30-45 fps until the motherboard started kicking the bucket.
  10. Did you read the link I posted? I'll repeat... Storage spaces. Not disk management. Works fine on non-server editions of windows.
  11. Sure! I’m not building until closer to Christmas. Just trying to determine a case way in advance of that since that’s the only part I’m hung up on.
  12. Hi all so i posted on the proxmox forum and reddit but got nothing so branching out to here for some help. Please see the post below - log mentioned is here: pastebin Hi all, new to promox and fancied setting up a cluster. 1 node so far and already failing. Apologies for the long post but its adds context. So i got a HP prodesk G3 400 mini - 8GB RAM (to be upgraded), i5-8500t. It should run at least the promox system without vms but im getting an issue with random reboots. So it came with W11 installed and i ran that as a test, web browsing, light gaming etc etc for a good few hours and was fine, pretty solid. So i used the VE iso and rufus, got proxmox installed following a couple of guides (craftcomputing, jimsgarage) and all went smooth. Went to bed and woke up to the pc cooking itself and unresponsive, power cycle and all good. Started messing with containers and a vm all seemed ok, beyond my config of those specific items then the web ui dropped again and the chassis started to warm up. Another power cycle all good. Put W11 back on, left running all day and night, not a hiccup 40c cpu pretty stable all the way through. unraid, appears to also be stable after running for the best part of a day (loaded up the immich docker and let it process over 100k image files as a workout). Put proxmox back on, web ui up and running, did nothing, went to bed, woke up still fine. Loaded the web ui started having a look around and boom, lock up. Checked using ping and was unreachable, then a few minutes later it came back, so i looked around and it might be the realtek 8111 ethernet connection not playing nice. Checked the sys log however and im currently sat at 10 reboots. Ive powered it off now as it wasnt coming back and started to heat up. Id point at hardware but 2 out of 3 OS were fine. Anyway, i couldn't pull the syslog from the drive however this is what was loaded and running the web ui during the few reboots this morning. Any help is much appreciated and the log is attached (trimmed for size) Update: i tried this with the new release of proxmox ve 8.2 but still getting the same behaviour

  14. I have a asrock z370 ib-r board. Will a nvidia geforce rtx 4060 ti 16gb work with that board? Also my old graphics card was a rtx2080 08g.
  15. I have been using caps lock key as my push to talk button for discord for a while now. I have the same exact setup, no updates, changes to software or hardware but suddenly my caps lock key has started acting as a toggle instead of a regular key. I.e when i press and hold, instead of it sending 1 signal caps on/ off, it keeps switching between both and I am unable to use it as push to talk key because my mic keeps turning on and off and my sound stutters. I have never seen this behavior before and I havent installed/ changed anything either. I am using windows 11, usb connected keyboard on an HP omen (amd+nvidia) laptop. I do not understand why this started suddenly and what needs to be changed Here are some settings:
  16. agreed.. but tell that to the HP's, dells, and MSI's of this world that have been doing that for as long as windows has been around. all that's happening now is that microsoft would really like a slice of that cake. because within microsoft's corporate structure windows is part of the azure ecosystem. it is essentially seen as an extension to their cloud products. i dont agree with this move at all.. but just so you know, that's why they are doing that. this is VERY valid.. in fact in the early days there was an actual lawsuit over "internet explorer just existing on the platform", and now they're actually hostile takeover-ing your chrome tabs... some applications can be installed within the user profile. they dont touch anything that requires administrator, and they dont affect other users. this 'problem' has existed since the dawn of windows. on that note - on linux you can technically stuff as much garbage into your own profile, and even run stuff as a service the moment you log in without ever needing root... it's just more manual. this might have changed since the last time i've had to do this, but upgrade keys for windows 10 home to pro have existed. they've taken the decision to require TPM, because microsoft products all use TPM for login management. it comes back to the azure thing, and beyond that it's microsoft throwing their weight at hardware vendors (looking at you, HP...) that refused to integrate this actually very interesting security tool into anything not meant for business use. it sucks, it's a horrid decision IMO, but i see why they did it. and hey.. at least it means that turning off TPM is a surefire way to not have sudden windows 11 appear on my machines. it's almost as if google and apple dont want to work well with windows because they have their own operating system to push.. perhaps it's a really good experience with windows phones /s. i've got 6 years of IT experience, serving both regular home users and major businesses.. and i can tell you.. this garbage is why i left IT. microsoft has hit market saturation, and the only thing they can do to grow is sell the same people more products they dont need. i've seen 15 employee businesses rack up $40k/month azure billing for what's essentially just an office suite with some plugins.
  17. I installed them myself today because I couldn't stand seeing the empty cut outs

  21. For the love of god don't use MSI center or Gigabyte center they are both pure snake oil. It makes your pc run slower to if you don't know what you are changing. And don't turn on "game mode" from MSI center, it lowers your CPU clock speed for some reason and makes your game's FPS significantly lower.
  22. Dont bother really. Spend that money on idk 10 lightsabers or something? These things whilst still usable for 1080p gaming totally are just terrible value really.
