    New builder who dis?

Why 2400G? Do you need the integrated graphics? Why a X470 board for a lower-end Ryzen 5? Dual channel is good, but you can get 3000mhz RAM for about the same money SSD are faster the more space you have, 120GB is what people hate themselves because Windows already eats almost half of that 3GB VRAM gonna be a bit of a pain to game on Corsair VS is trash, and why the heck is it that expensive anyway For that money you could do easily do this PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($164.89 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: ASRock - B450M PRO4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($69.89 @ OutletPC) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($78.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Crucial - BX500 480 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($59.88 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Sapphire - Radeon RX 580 8 GB NITRO+ Video Card ($199.99 @ Newegg) Case: Thermaltake - Versa H22 ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair - CXM 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($52.88 @ OutletPC) Total: $666.51 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-04-24 19:50 EDT-0400
  3. Thing is I noticed this since I got the new GPU, but blamed the game (Witcher at that time). Then I noticed in other games as well. Might be a bad card from the start, but I'm a bit skeptical with the PSU as well.

What reason do people do 2 2080ti?

And the guy is a POS. Called me "poor", for "only" having a 8700K and Vega 64.
  5. Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it. Are the 1660s going to be a whole lot better than the 1060s?
  6. I just upgraded to gigabit internet with xfinity. I cant understand why my pc is only getting 250 to 450mb. The techs came out today and they are testing over 900mb on their little device, even using my Ethernet cable. What could cause my computer to not get the full speed? I have a gigabyte ga-z97-hd3 with an I3 4160, using the onboard Realtek GbE 10/100/1000
  7. Just broke my Asus transformer mini, actually just the power button somehow, but that thing gives me a headache. The Intel Atom processor inside struggles to do just about anything, and the battery's dying, so if I can fix it and sell it as working it's funding a new laptop instead of going back into regular use. Since it was not a great find, I don't particularly trust I can actually find what I'm looking for. My requirements: - ipad-ish size, the transformer mini is like 10 inches so I like it little. - at least 32GB of storage, no spinning rust. Gotta survive a few drops (the mini has held up so far, until the power button issue.) - battery life of 4 hours, shouldn't be so hard to find - relatively inexpensive. No hard and fast limit, because I want to have the chance to invest in something nice if it's worth it, but I spent $250 on the transformer mini if that gives you an idea of what I'm after. but above all else - stylus pen I need the laptop for notes, so without the pen it's worthless. Try typing integrals and greek symbols, it's a pain in the ass.

yeah, it's a great 12 phase for the price, clearly ready for a 9900k if you have all the info you need, you can mark it solved with that checkmark, and i'd appreciate some likes if you don't mind

  11. changing PSU could help but if that's sustained damage then it will stay there.

    RAM speed in programming

In general you find the performance weak spots via measuring and profiling. Performance (for most programming) optimizations are not something you try to write from the get go, since 90% of optimizations you could make wouldn't make a difference. Obviously there are exceptions (HFT comes to mind), but in general you write first, then optimize AFTER figuring out what needs optimized. To drive the point home, you could know of an optimization that you used in the past, use it without measuring, only to find out later that since you last used it that optimization has actually been done better in the compiler and you actually made it slightly worse by not just letting the compiler do its job. When it comes to performance, measure measure measure.

    on a CWT?
  14. Set it to run all the time then pause it when your on the computer and un pause it when your done. or use the fahclient command-Line in Windows task scheduler to pause and un-pause it fahclient - -send-command pause fahclient - -send-command unpause fahclient /? or is it fahclient - -help or, gasp, hook up the display to the iGPU and fold all the time but you might have to fiddle with installing two sets of graphics drivers and when you need the discreet GPU for say gaming move the monitor cable. Or, if your monitor has multiple inputs connect one input to the iGPU and the other to the discreet GPU

I think I will definitely go with the gigabyte elite. Seems to have good power delivery. Thanks for the help!
  16. I just received this notice from PayPal. Is this intentional? If there is a more appropriate place for this, please let me know. Edit: Disregard. It wasn't flagged as 'important' so I missed the message titled: "Floatplane is migrating!"

Now that is funny. What a waste of good hardware.

A Free Lunch? - Brave Browser now paying users to view ads

I really don't mind ads so long as they aren't resource hungry things that take a long time to load up, have pop up thingies or loud sounds etc. If it's just an image advertising a product with a link i'd gladly get rid of my ad blocker+ no-script addon.
  22. Hey everyone, I noticed some strange artifacts within games like Witcher 3, AC: Odyssey, MK11 and even WoW. Basically on some fade-in/fade-out effects, for example in WItcher when you walk pass a tree and it fades out as the camera goes through it, it should fade out, but in my case it... pixelates out. Same behavior in AC; in WoW with some water spells (bubbles that splash around chars or npcs) and recently in MK11 when the fight starts, this can be noticed around the hair and faces of characters, not in the cutscenes tho. The performance and temps are more than ok, so I'm wondering if my PSU could be the issue here, since I didn't changed it when I built my new PC and considered that 600W should be enough. Or if the GPU could be at fault... is there a name for this problem? In order to tell the guys at the service what the exact issue is. Few notes: 1. I don't overclock (except the profile for RAM if it counts) 2. GPU driver is the latest as I'm writing this 3. In high load, coil noise can be heard, but I can't pinpoint if the PSU or GPU is making the noise 4. If I were to test with other components... I can't do this. I don't have anyone from where to borrow another GPU or PSU (similar specs), to test what is at fault Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-8700 GPU: Nvidia 1070ti SSD1: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD2: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB HDD: Western Digital 1TB Blue RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz CL18 Dual Channel RGB LED MBD: Asus TUF Z370-PRO GAMING Socket 1151 v2 tuf z370-pro gaming PSU: Sirtec - High Power Element BRONZE 600W (oldest piece from this list) Thanks in advance!
