Day One - Fold Me Up Scotty

GOTSpectrum

Well... Here we are, the first points update for a folding event. There is something magical about this time, something surreal and truly majestic. In many ways, this update is not unlike any of the 34 that will follow it. But to me, this is the best feeling in the world, the rush to get the stats out, the pensive feelings of those waiting to see just how they shape up. All of our's first chance to get a view of the table and a sneak peek at how the chips may fall. But as those veterans of these events will know, much will change in the coming days, not even to mention the five whole weeks to come. So for now, may your points be high and your temps be low, for it is once again folding season.

So before we get into the individual stats I first want to take a look at how we performed as a team. Over the last 24 hours, the event participants generated 1,584,657,471 points towards the team's total. This was produced with 4,673 WUs in total for those signed up to the event. So let's take a look at the leaderboard in sets, the top 10 produced 41% of the team's points for today, while the top 50 did 75% and the top 100 produced 90% of the event's point total. You can see more details of this on the sheet attached lower down this blog post.

Now, for all of you waiting to see the ranks, let's have a look at those.

We are seeing something of note, last event Shlouski was sitting on the throne after the first day of folding, but today, we see a new contender. However, he was unable to keep that spot and eventually came in second place. Well, right now we have a well-known member of the team sitting on the throne with Mxyzptlk(his friends call him mixie) taking the number one spot with an impressive but not record-breaking day of 115,073,408 points. Still, he is looking to be the man to beat so far. In second place we have Shlouski, who despite being a member of the team for so long I still can't type his name right on the first attempt. Last year he came in second place, and from the looks of the first day he's looking like he may replicate that dishonor. He takes the number two spot with 109,693,820 points. Very impressive. We have the king of 2022 sitting in the number three spot, he managed to take the throne at the end of the last event and was crowned as a result, if he is to replicate that feat he's going to have to find more power somewhere as he takes the rank of third with only 95,367,483 points. Next up, we have the only LMG representation in the event, with jakkuh_t taking the number four spot with 90,922,470 points. I have to be honest I tipped him for at least a top-three spot and have to say I'm a little disappointed. Moving swiftly on we have Justaphf, a long-time veteran of the team and our overall Number-One man in the overall stats, taking the place of fifth with 73,743,471 points.

Now moving on to the next set of people we are going to fire through them a little quicker. A legend of a man, Alex Atkin UK takes the number 6 spot with 38,859,739 points, I have to say, a funny note, Alex is the only person on the team to find my personal social media accounts and send me a Friend request. P.S. Don't do this. Nonetheless, I'm sure he will be happy to have a mention here in the top ten. Sitting in number 7 we have Gorgon, a man who has helped out with the running of earlier folding events and really helped us to streamline our processes to get us to the point where we are now. He takes the rank with 36,861,027 points. vsteel is up next in 8th, taking the rank with 34,537,183 points, he's been around for quite some time but is a rather quiet member of the team. _Rlocke is in the 9th with 29,361,403, an interesting fact about him is he was the first person to pull a 100,000,000 point fay during a folding event. And finally we have the honourable gatekeeper, filling up this post we have the man with all the data, the master of the folding hardware database LAR_Systems who takes up his post with 28,064,255 points.

Please click on the link below to see the full list of ranks for the event.

For this event all of the ranks will be on one link, there will be individual sheets added for each day, you can navigate these at the bottom of the window.

But the apu folds on, Da-da-dum, da-dum, da-da.

i still remember when i made this for you as you where litterally the last one that qualified  232E3793-4C3D-4509-B452-DB9ACBFF01A0_4_5005_c.jpeg.bb73eefbb61c0464c7eeaeca853aceb3.jpeg

Ah found it the 2021 Sprint spec was being mean and wouldn't let me congratulate you on passing the mark till the final post was ready so i found a random caboose to show you were on the train 😉 i seem to recall that was the sprint where the requirements were raised, and you were worried you wouldn't make it.

Me too! What hardware do you use? Today was a pretty bad day point wise, compared what i got before the start of the event. I use a RTX2080 together with a 5800X3D.

Yeah, when I didn't have the main linux box folder now and was literally running 8 systems to barely make the cut.  The newest one being 10 years old at the time.  LOL

One of them is still my daily driver intel MacBook Pro 15"...and yes, I game on it too...still.  Rarely folds anymore though (worth all like, 2k ppd if I remember correct).

Im rocking a 6800 XT and a ryzen 7 5500 X. I think for next year im gonna try to get my hands on two 3070TI before the event. Even looking at some used server-mounted GPUs to add a full machine. Ill break that top 10 one day i swear

I am currently scavenging old parts from everybody i know and together with all the leftovers from upgrading and repairing i have almost everything for a second rig with the ground breaking Ryzen 3 3100. It will even get a graphics card capable of outputting a video signal! I also hope that the motherboard works, and i still have to RMA the power supply and get a working graphics card. I even have a RTX2070. But unfortunately, that one has a total short circuit on the supply rails.
