Personal rig modded on the cheap

Dude. You have really inspired me to do these mods to my case, I was thinking of doing a PSU cover but hadn't figured out exactly how I wanted to do and now I know! I hope you don't mind!

That arduino controller is awesome! I started playing around with my arduino a while ago and considered doing something like this but never got around to it!

Please keep doing mods like this as you have inspired me to go and get my feet wet case modding!

This is one of the more interesting buildlogs in this forum because you've done everything from scratch. I do like that selfmade fan controler and I'm looking forward for the finished project.

Cheers!  :)

Thank you very much! :)

Thank you! If you do any mods on your pc please share it with us! I would love to see what you will come up with after being inspired by my mods! Also arduinos are amazing!

Also I soldered the other 4 channels. All I need now is some 10μf capacitors for the other 3 channels, a way to mount the arduino on the PCB without soldering it and some fan connectors. I tried using the bitfenix fans and it seems to be some pwm noise when running on low speeds, so I will place a 1-10μf capacitor just before the fan connector IF I can, otherwise it will be included in the fan spliter.

Here use this for mounting the arduino without soldering

Just found a quick example check eBay and other sites for a better deal and something made for the mini arduino

This is exactly what I was looking at right now! The problem is that I will have to solder and use  all of them, but I will only use 6pins out of the 30pins total. I will see if I can find single ones so that four will be on each corner to make it steady, and then the other 6 will be soldered wherever they need to .

EDIT

I just realised that I will need an internal usb cable for the arduino. Something like the h100i is using. Does anyone know where I can find one? I know I could make one myself but I dont have any spare mini usb cables

This will work but I was thinking more like an internal usb 2.0 to mini usb like the one that comes with the H100i.

I understand what you are saying but can't you use something like this as well?

Yes I can but I will have to use this cable with the adapter mentioned above meaning I will have more cables and more  connectors to hide which is going to be challenging. I will search through my huge cable boxes tomorrow to see if there is any spare mini usb cable that I can mod with an internal header.

Thanks for the quick responses BTW ;)

Aaaaaand the fan controller is done!
So happy that is works perfect!
Also this was the most ghetto way I could find to mount the arduino :P
The controller works excellent and all that's left now is to put some heat sinks on the transistors, make a small case for it and then its software time!

Great to hear that your "ghetto" fan controller finally works! I'm looking forward to the next update

Watch out, there might be ninjas out there

Thanks!

The next thing I will do is to mount all the fans, install intake filters, Install the PSU cover and then IF I can add a window. I also want to ether sleeve the cables or buy extensions for the 24pin and the 6pins. I also might paint the top of the hyper 212 black.
