Updated 10/31/16

So I started this build way back in May of this year and only have now completed it. It took so long because I got very busy with work and school and also parts kept failing on me.

My goal for this build was to fit as much hardware as possible into the smallest case that can fit 2 GPUs and custom liquid cooling. This is the result.

Before I take you through all the different variations that this build went through, I want to show the end result.

Photo Album with all the pictures: Initial Build, 10/31/16 Update

The first thing I did was to mod my case to fit a 140mm fan slot in the top of the case where the 5.25 bays were with the idea to fit a rad in there. I did happen to fit it in but the fit was very tight and this was eventually taken out with the top slot being used just as an exhaust with a single fan. I cut out an octagon measured for a 140mm fan and drilled holes for the mounting. Also lined the cutout with vinyl wrap to make it look a bit better and also protect against the sharp edges.

Next I created a side panel using a sheet of window glass and wrapping the edges in vinyl wrap. This makes a really clean window look. Much better than the solid side panel that the TJ08-E usually has.

Now on to the actual build.

Initial start: Got the psu in at the top as you can see and also installed the 180 rad in the front, the EVGA X99 Micro mobo, a 5820k, and 16GB of Corsair LPX ram as well as some of the cables. Most of these parts were eventually replaced since things died and I took the chance to upgrade.

Now onto the GPUs. I had 2 EVGA 780 ti Classified Kingpins at the beginning.

Spoiler

This tubing run is going to be really tight.

Spoiler

Got some more cabling done and fittings attached.

Spoiler

Got the first 2 tubes in! Admittingly, the longer tube was bent pretty badly but I also didn't have much of a choice since that fit was so tight. In the end, I never even used this tube.

Spoiler

Got some cable management done.

Got the last few tubes in! Now it's time to fill the loop.

Spoiler

The actual filling! Filled with distilled water first to check spills. What I didn't take a picture of though, was when first fill was a disaster. The 180 rad has a port on the bottom and I never knew. Everything that went in the loop came out through that port. I should have done a blow test but did not know about it back then. I then had to take everything out and put it all back in. These pics are from the second try that actually had a closed loop.

There were no leaks so I emptied the loop and filled it with Mayhems Pastel

At this point, I found out that the system did not post *facepalm*

Initially I found that the ram was bad so went ahead and got that replaced. At the same time, I decided to upgrade to a pair of 980 classys which are a bit longer so that forced me to get rid of the rad I had up in the 5.25 bay. I also upgraded to a 5930k, EVGA sli bridge, and 4 MX100 512GB drives in RAID 0. The white extensions got stained so they were replaced with black extensions. Later, found out that my X99 micro board was also defective... At that point, I changed to an Asus X99M WS motherboard and I also upgraded the ram to 4x8GB of white Adata XPG Z1 because they look a lot better.

Hi friend

I wish I had a better camera to take glamour shots of this build. I'm probably not changing this in a freaking long time because I'm pretty sure I put 100+ hours into this thing.

Because I found this 5930k BNIB for $425 and I'm running SLI so I was like why not? It's a great overclocker too. Got it to 4.6Ghz at 1.3V

  • 10 months later...

Just changed the fluid and added white PSU cables. Also installed an NXZT HUE+ kit. The pattern I have on is really bad for photos through so I turned it to solid white for this.

RIP

This PC just died right after I updated it. Pretty sure it's the motherboard but I'm moving on to something else. I'll have new build coming up. Going to be using my 5GHz 4790k this time.

Just going to sell the RMA'ed board?

Actually it wasn't the motherboard. Still need to figure out what happened but I just ripped the PC apart today and tested the motherboard. It boots. Maybe it was just a loose power connector because I never checked the connection between the extensions and the motherboard. Going to test each component before selling anything but yeah I will sell the motherboard once I finish testing everything.

So it turns out 1 of my graphics cards is the issue. Do you want to buy the motherboard?
