{Needs Name} R9 390, i5-6600k, Asus Z170-A [White & Blue Theme]

starwarsguy99

Hi Guys,

I am really exited to share my new project with you all!

This is my first time water cooling a PC, and it happens to be the best one I have made so far.

Lets hope it doesn't break!

So I am mainly building this for my school project. I have to make videos of the project for it, which I can hopefully post here.

Plan:

1) Building the PC (Completed)

2) Installing Waterblocks

3) Re-Install parts

4) Hard-Line Tubing

5) Filling and Leak testing

Parts List:

Intel i5-6600k

Asus Z170-A

Avexir Core Series 8GB (Blue LEDs)

Powercolor R9 390

Cooler Master Mastercase 5 Pro

Corsair CS650M [Needs to be replaced]

Plextor M6pro 256GB

WD Blue 1TB

I really want to get a second R9 390, as

1) Dual GPUs look awesome

2) Why not? (I have my own YouTube Channel, and I plan to make a cool video series)

Water Cooling Parts:

Water cooling list 1

These are the parts I plan to use, but I am not sure about it yet.

I hope to use white fittings with blue fluid, as I like the contrast but I still don't know to choose normal fluid or a Pastel One.

I will add some pictures of the build soon and I plan to order the Water Cooling parts today or tomorrow and hope they arrive this weekend.

Thanks for checking this out, and stay tuned for more updates!

How about Blue Frost?

It's Blue and White, so that might also be good.

I hope to be ordering the Water Cooling today, but shipping to Singapore sadly may take a while.

Too direct, a good nickname works on many different levels. I'm going to suggest "The Penned Essay"

That name is pretty good, as I am building this PC for a school Project and I need to write an essay later

Update #2

So, I managed to order the water cooling stuff from EKWB yesterday!

The stuff should be arriving on the 12th of December and I really can't wait.

I was unable to get a 240 rad as they were out of stock, which sucks, but I should be fine with a 360 on the front for now. :)

The shipping costed $53. Which honestly is surprising, I did expect it to cost much more.

Here is a list of all the stuff I got from EKWB

Parts ordered

As you can probably see, I forgot to order the fluid....

I was planning to get Pastel Blue, as I liked the contrast between the white fittings.

Thats all for now!

See you next time!

Update #3

So I benchmarked my PC with 3DMark

3DMark Score 1

Other PCs with the same cpu and gpu got 11,000 points, with similar clocks, so I hope overclocking it (and water cooling it helps)

EK is still processing my order which sucks :(

They were supposed to be delivered tomorrow, but (obviously) I am glad they can deliver it early.

Update #4

Well, the parts arrived yesterday..

I won't be able to start building it yet, as I have to

1) Benchmark the PC.

2) Purchase parts

Thats right, I forgot to buy stuff...

I need to still get the heat gun, and all the tools needed for bending PETG (Hacksaw, insert tube, deburring tool ect.)

I also forgot to get the fluid, I plan to get a Blue color, but I am not sure whether to get clear blue or a pastel blue. Currently I am leaning towards pastel, as it would contrast well with the white fittings, but I hope to get a darker blue (I just like that more).

I hope to get the parts by Wednesday. I have a half day of school left on that day, and then I have winter holidays, so I will have a lot of time to work on it then.

Update #4.5

I am mainly done benchmarking now, I just have to do one more test.

Tomorrow I am planning to go to a shopping mall, called Sim Lim (Yes, the place Linus went to), to find the remaining watercooling parts I will need.

I still have no idea how I will drain my system and I am open to any suggestions.

I hope to post the benchmarks tomorrow and the build should *ideally* be done by next Tuesday (As I have to go overseas till next year).

Thats about normal for an i5, the i5's suffer from lower Physics scores, compared to an i7, you'll gain a couple thousand points (or a little less give or take) for that.

The one to keep an eye on.. is the first Graphics score, and compare that to similar GPU's. Thats the data you need to see if its running at its normal performance score, taking into account only the GPU.

Look up a comparison between an i5 and an i7 in Physics alone as well to make it clearer, only the CPU is tested and watch the score differences.

(Thats "likely" where your score is dropping the most in comparison to others with higher scores)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
