Costco Surface Pro 3 bundle. good deal?

So my father discovered this deal and it seems tempting from a student's perspective.

Comes with:

• Surface Pro 3  – Intel® Core™ i7 Processor, 256GB storage with 8GB RAM
• Windows 10 Pro
• Surface Pen – for the best writing and drawing experience on a tablet
• Surface Pro Type Cover (black) – designed exclusively for Surface Pro 3, the revolutionary click-in keyboard also protects
your display
• Office 365 Personal – a 1 year subscription to the latest versions of the best-in-class applications that you know and love
like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote

• Surface Pro Screen Protector – made with tempered glass to offer premium scratch and chip protection for your Surface Pro 3

The value that Costco gave my dad is around $1,000. Is the Surface pro 4 anymore different than the 3?

The Surface pro 4 is thinner and lighter, plus it has the new 6th gen CPUs and Windows Hello + Fingerprint reader.

$1,000 is a very good deal for that model and keyboard.

Is it different not really, just a few features added. I would still take that deal over the Surface Pro 4, prices of the Pro 4 are still high.

that's a good deal. But I'd flip the SP3 type cover and buy a SP4 type cover because it's a great deal better.

I'm guessing they're interchangable if you say that?

Yes. The Surface Pro 3 & 4 are the same dimensions in width and length.

For $1k?

Hell fucking yeah, that's top of the line

Is there any reason to get this over a regular ultrabook or laptop that would be cheaper?

Its build quality, the fact that it comes with all the good accesories, the fact that it has an i7 in it and not a shitty ass Penitum or i3, I can go on.

my friend was saying "what are you gonna do, play fallout/ witcher on it? its like a mac, overpriced when you can get an ASUS ultrabook for $500 to take notes"

He has a point, but its also an i7 surface for ~$700 adding in the accessories it comes with

I'd really jump on this though. For some reason these tend to have decent resell values in the case you want to sell it.
