Will this GPU cause issues for my friend?

Hiya Linus forums.

 

My close friend has a Dell XPS 8300, and has been upgrading it for awhile. It is now the time to finally upgrade from his old GPU, the GTX650ti. For his price range I recommended the GTX 960, but I do not know if it will cause issues with his machine in any way. From what I know, his CPU is an Intel Core i7 (2nd Gen) 2600 / 3.4 GHz. Please leave suggestions :)

R9 380 >>> GTX 960 for around the same price. If he can get a R9 290 or R9 380X within his budget, tell him to get those
