Need confirmations on my picks :)

PwnY

Hello guys.

So resently a friend of mine decided to join the PC master race.

He asked me to find the right components for his needs so i created a list for him.

As iam fairly new to PC building too (iam only 16 years old) i wanted to ask more experienced people if my picks are good.

So here is the list of components i choose :

1. AMD FX-9590

2.Sabertooth R2.0, AMD 990FX Mainboard

3. 1TB HDD

4. 8GB ddr3 (tbd but probably corsair)

5. SCMG-4PCGH (cpu cooler)

6.EVGA GeForce gtx970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 with 4gb GDDR5

7.[TBD] 650W psu (overkill for upgradability)

8. Fractal Design define s

Any tips or recommendations are appretiated :)

BTW. he isnt a guy who would show of his system so the components in the inside dont have to be fab xD

Greetings from germany,

Oskar

-edit thanks for all the support :)

i didnt know that the amd cpu is so bad (was just looking for stats on paper) so i will probably change it out for an intel cpu and change to a msi mobo (cos thats my favourite mobo manufactory)

there were a few questions regarding the budget : our budget is 1k € (the prizes are shitty in germany so aprox. 900 $)

Would you like a free heater to go along with your computer? Then don't buy a 9590. Every joke about that thing running hot is absolutely true.

Edit: Not to mention that a 9590 only runs as fast as an i5 anyways, but the TDP is crazy crazy high

Z87/Z97 board + i5 4690k + SSD (in addition to the 1TB drive)

That's what I recommend you add, and throw away the 9590 and 990FX board.

I changed your thing Kherm, sorry, but I like a GTX 970, not too much of a difference between that and a 390...

Actually, you could go for an i5-6600K and a Z170 board and have a better chipset and USB 3.1....

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

When you have an i5 crushing the 9590 in every possible benchmark, something has gone horribly wrong with your architecture.

If you are going to spend 200 dollars or more on a processor, go Intel. If you need a cheaper one then go AMD. A 970 is a good option but check out the new AMD gpu as well.

Bulldozer is DEAD.

The worst part is that the 9590 is practically AMD's flagship CPU right now

 That'd work too! :D

But if you do decide to go that route, don't get a Z-series motherboard, because you'll not be able to OC it.
