Issues with R9 270 crossfire

So I recently grabbed a second r9 270 for my system, and set it up in crossfire with my first r9 270.

But I just noticed that alot of games are actually running worse with crossfire on. My first gpu is having ALL of its memory used in crossfire, but when I turn it off, and play the same game, the memory usage goes down to about half, and my FPS goes up by like 15fps in some games.

Im stumped, can I get some help?
