Best laptop for around £250?

I'm looking to buy a new laptop but having never owned one before i'm not too sure what I should be looking at or what to expect so I could really do with a helping hand on finding one to buy to get the most for my money.

 

Aesthetically I'd preferably it to be all black and maybe be reversible? a 16:9 screen would be a godsend as I know most laptops seem to have odd resolutions.

Performance wise a decently long battery life (6-8+ hours) is a must, a good processor with enough RAM to handle multiple tabs (4+) in google chrome (with extensions) and enough storage space to hold all my music and have decent speakers is pretty much all i'm looking for.

Like I said previously though i'm really new to all this so i'm not sure if this is all possible to do or if I will need to up my price range to be able to accommodate for what I would like to be able to do with it. 

 

Any help or suggestions would be great, I don't know if it is possible to upgrade a laptop like it is a computer? as that could also be an option?

i'll start by saying upgrading laptops is somewhat possible, but is a plain bad idea. (except where the manufacturer plans for it, like the mechanical keyboard MSI)

 

i'll add that £250 is a pretty low budget, even for a facebook machine. (thats my way of saying the system is for browsing the net, deal with it.)

Thank you both for such fast responses (even though I only just noticed them) I'm liking the look of the Asus X551CA-SX130H that Thechez99's suggested the most but i'm still grateful for your option too ZetZet.

i'd say the two before mentioned laptops arent too bad, and when going less you'll have to give up too much.

That's all i'm looking for really, just something nice and nippy that can handle microsoft office 2014, multiple chrome tabs, windows 8.1/10 and some music.
