What GPU? - MSI Geforce GTX 960 4gb VS GTX 970

Hi everyone,

i'm currently in the market for a GPU, i have a 144hz 1080p monitor and want to take full advantage of it, i want to run games like GTA and Battlefield as best as i can. Im looking at the MSI Geforce GTX 960 4gb or a 970 of some sort, is the 970 worth the jump in price? if so what one do you guys recommend?

Thanks.

I'd say the 970 is worth the price jump, and I would recommend the Gigabyte G1 970 even though it is a bit more expensive than the other 970s.

Obviously the 970, it is most definitely worth the extra price, it's probably one of the best bang-for-buck cards on the market.

50Cent sweg.

If your budget allows for it I would say got for the 970, especially with that 144hz monitor.  I have an EVGA 960 4GB and it suits my needs fine, but I only have 60hz monitors :)

If you could get two 960's 4 GB versions for price around of a 970 it would be great, youd have about the same GPU power and 0.5 GB more VRAM.

Youve been living in a hole or something ? 970 has 3.5 + 0.5, the smaller part of which is SLOWER than rest there by causing stuttering in games if its used.

The OP will not get close to using that vram at 1080p

Also 4gb in a 960 makes no difference as the card is still not fast enough to do what he wants. It is even similarly priced or more expensive than an r9 290.

3.5+0.5=4, you can't do simple addition?

If it's used, Nvidia driver will make sure it will never use.

Well it stutters in games that need 4GB or more and driver doesnt seem to care.

Didn't happen here.

Of course it will stutter if the game need more than 4GB since it only have 4GB.
