Vertical Mouse

Can someone explain to me what to expect if i get a vertical mouse?  My buddy who owns one says they are the best and that they save your arm and wrist from pain in the future, but is that really true?  Also, i have also noticed that it would be weird to hold it because your hand does not really touch the table or mouse pad.  If anyone has experience with one or know anything about them, can you please let me know.  Even extra info is fine.  Any help will be appreciated.

No matter how you hold something, you are still susceptible to RSI, or repetitive strain injury. If you repeatedly do something over and over again, like move or click a mouse, eventually it will do damage. Ask Taran ;)

Dude, that looks like a freaking tank. I wouldn't get one  if I were you, looks like it would be even worse...

 

I use my computer for 3+ hours a day, with a small gaming mouse... no RSI yet.
