I am looking for a good quality monitor for temporary use with a set top box to watch television and later use the display as the primary display for a photo editing/light gaming machine. Could someone guide me what are the downsides of this setup(TV) and is it better than buying a TV. I am looking in the 24-28 inch screen size range.

 

Also, some display recommendations are greatly appreciated.

ASUS MX279H 27 is 250 bucks 27 inch LED and IPS

That one looks good, thanks for the recommendation. Are there any more choices?
