I am looking for a good quality monitor for temporary use with a set top box to watch television and later use the display as the primary display for a photo editing/light gaming machine. Could someone guide me what are the downsides of this setup(TV) and is it better than buying a TV. I am looking in the 24-28 inch screen size range.

 

Also, some display recommendations are greatly appreciated.
