ASUS VX239H FLICKERING MONITOR

Go to solution Solved by Umzipumzi,

Oh boy, that video doesn't look like flickering to me.

RMA, or try another monitor and see if it does the same thing.

The display is about a week old from purchase I tried every cable i had including vga cables but no luck.

any ideas on what causes the problem?

It still has the warranty included but i just wanted to know if something in my system causes the issue

any opinion is appreciated.

Specs:

CPU: i5 4570

CPU COOLER: Coolermaster Hyper evo 212x

MOBO: Gigabyte G1.sniper.b6

RAM: 2X4gb hyper x fury black

PSU: Thermaltake smart SE 530w 87% eff

its interesting to know though that if I direct a fan to the monitor itself it stops flickering at 60hz but if i lower the refresh rate it becomes worse. SAD

please see the video below to see the issue itself

THANKS!

Looks more like artifacting. Are you overclocking your GPU?

EDIT: When you said flickering I thought you meant it pulsed on and off or something of that nature.

That's not supposed to do that....

Before i put the card i was running it on the Integrated graphics still no diff. if you missed the detail sir, Its interesting note that the problem is reduced when I direct a fan to the monitor.

but it becomes worse if i decrease the refresh rate even though its cooled. please bear with me  :)

That is strange, especially considering that it fixes itself when you direct a fan to it.

This means the monitor is definitely bad, is there a chance you can return it or RMA it?

I have seen this problem before, it looks like a loose LVDS cable inside of the monitor. I would RMA it ASAP.

Just return the monitor, something probably broke it on transit  :)  If a fan fixes it then might be a bad board, then again it might just be your own perception that the problem alleviates (we all go through that phase sometimes when troubleshooting ;) ).  I know in PH it can get really hot but it shouldnt be a problem on newer monitors (I had mine sitting beside the window last summer there in PH but it had no issues).
