DOTA 2 League

NPNPgaming DOTA 2 League

As many of you know me and Deleon.David held a DOTA 2 Community Tournament here on the forum, it's almost over, only 2(possibly 3) games left, we have had to postpone games due to several issues. The tournament had many flaws because I never realised what an amount of work that had to be poured in to it. Not having set game times before everything was done was also a big issue.

Now that we know a lot more and because DOTA 2 is offically launched, no more BETA, we want to celebrate the DOTA 2 Launch, so we are launching a new project, a DOTA 2 League with set times, no random teams or anything silly like that. Prize Pool will be Rare or Better items, provided by the entrance fee of one Rare or Better item per player in each team.

The League will be played on Saturdays(2 games) and Sundays(1 game) all through out August in to mid September, no games will be played during The International 2013. Every team will only play one game per weekend so hopefully it won't take up too much time of your weekend. The games will be best out of 3(bo3), Captains Mode, Tournament version.

We will stream the League with casters over at our Twitch.tv Channel, NPNPgaming. Games will also be uploaded to Youtube. We are looking for any interested casters to help casting the games, English only of course. Interviews with teams might be held after some of the games. We will link to your channels and you're allowed to give some shoutouts to your own channels at the beginning or end of each game. Link to application form at the bottom of the post.

To enter the NPNPgaming League your Team Captain will have to fill in the form linked at the bottom of this post. Your Team Captain will have to send in the Rare or Better Items to BAPEsta/IKEA before your application is accepted.

Game Schedule:

Rules & Information:

Note: By applying for the tournament you, and on behalf of your team, agree to these rules.

1. Resolving a Conflict situation
Tournament organizers reserve the right for changes. In conflict situations the tournament organizers decide how the case is handled. Decisions are final and can’t be argued with.

2. General rules
Team size is 5on5 with max 2 reserve players.
VoIP programs (Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, Mumble, Skype) are allowed.
Game altering or unfair advantage giving programs (for example timers) are not allowed.
Streaming/spectating by the organizing party can not be denied by players.
Outside spectators/broadcasters are allowed if agreed by both teams. (The official NPNPgaming broadcasters are allowed no matter what)
Individual streaming of own game is allowed, at least a 2 minute delay must be used.

Reserve player:
• All the rules concerning players, also concern reserve players.
• Player can only be changed between stages, not while there is an ongoing game set. For example in a bo3 game set, the players must stay same. If a one player goes MIA between games in a set of bo3 the player has 10min to return, if not the team that is missing the most players has lost the set of bo3.

Items:
Each team has to pay at least one Rare or better DOTA 2 item per team member as an entrance fee to the League, all items will be added to the League Prize Pool. The way we will divide the prizes between the top 3 teams will be announced closer to the end of the League. These items must be sent to IKEA/BAPEsta before your application will be accepted. It's up to each team captain to add and contact IKEA/BAPEsta on Steam to add the items to the Prize Pool. When there's 5 days left until the first game your items will not be given back to you if your team drops out. No Chests or other items that require money being spent to use them are allowed to be added to the Prize Pool. All added items are well documented to keep track of them.

3. Communicating
Team will choose a captain to represent their team. The team captain will handle all the communication with the organizers. Captains must add the League organizer IKEA/BAPEsta as their friend on steam.

4. General rules of matches
The team that is fully present wins the first game after 10 minutes and the whole set of bo3 after 25 minutes in case the opposing team is still not ready. We would like to ask people who are playing the second game on Saturdays to be ready 1 hour after the first game starts to make sure that you are all ready to start asap after game 1.

A custom lobby is created for the games. The Main Caster for each match will create the lobby, Captains Mode, Tournament Version, starting sides will be Random, servers are chosen depending on Team locations. DOTA TV delay must be 2 minutes, Spectators are allowed. Server Password will be given to each Team Captain when the lobby is created.

5. Rematch and pause
Rematch can be had if the server/game crashes. Tournament organizers may order a rematch if seen necessary.
Before spawning Creeps, an All Pick game is created in to a new lobby. Same heroes are chosen as in Captain Mode.
After the Creeps have been spawn, a rematch can be had if both teams agree. In case rematch is not made, the first player to connect back to the game sets a pause and waits until all the players are back online.

Game can be paused by requesting a pause in the chat.
Game can be continued without a pause if the other team agrees.

6. Announcing a match result
Teams are not allowed to announce game results until the game has ended in DOTA TV.

7. Fair game & disciplinary actions
All the players are required to use decent language and behavior.
Insulting other players, teams or organizers is prohibited.
Although these are the rules, jokes and such can be made but there's a line, don't cross it. We want a fun and pleasant League.
All kind of cheating, including ghosting with the help of a friend/stream is not allowed.

Breaking the rules mentioned above will result to the following disciplinary actions:
• A warning(3 results in team punishment, might include lost points or team getting removed from the League).
• Losing the match in a game set or the whole set of games(1 point in the League).
• Removing the player/team from the League.

A decision by an organizer is final and it can not be argued with.
The organizers have the right to change these rules at any time.

Donations to the Prize Pool, both DOTA 2 items or other things, like steam games or gift cards are welcome! We will of course credit you for this!

If all goes well and we get many viewers we might be able to pull off a bigger League in the future, hopefully with small sponsors to make everything more interesting.

All results will first be published on the NPNPgaming Forum.

So lets celebrate the official launch of DOTA 2 with a DOTA 2 League! Get your team together and join in! Lets have fun!
