Strange Black screen issue.

AnthonyPaull

So I just installed an NZXT Kraken G10 (Holy shit those temps though), but my computer keeps black-screening and not turning back on. The actual computer continues to run, I was on skype at the time and it kept working, but no graphical output. After under clocking the Memory, it hasn't happened again, leaving me with the feeling that it's the memory chips overheating.  In that case would a few after market heat sinks fix the issue?

(Also to anyone currently experiencing overheating issues, the G10 is a godsend. I was getting 80C in DA Origins, now I'm getting 55-65 [Albeit with the memory running 200Mhz underclocked])

Use MSI Afterburner to monitor VRM temps. If temps look fine (not close to or exceeding 100c) its likely the GPU was just unstable at previous memory clock speed.

If VRM is running real hot, might want to get some VRM heatsinks.

How do I monitor VRM temps?

The VRM has a heatsink it's the RAM that's the problem. Also the memory clock was set to default

Yep  it will be your VRM's overheating. Why I always advise to go for a full waterblock for GPUs as partial blocks will only cool the GPU chip and have no heatsink over VRMs.

Not the VRM. There is a heatsink on the VRM. Not on the RAM.
