i5 4460 to replace my FX-6300 worth it?

 I was originally going to buy a GTX 970 but hey. I saw a deal of the i5 4460 w/ Gigabyte Sniper B5 for $230 ( Used but the seller is reliable)

Is it worth it(How much performance increase will I get)? In my future upgrade path if I took this Is it ok to get an i7 before I completely shift to a newer architecture?

 

I currently have a razer themed rig and the Sniper B5 would complement my theme,

Most non-AAA titles do love the extra single core performance, and Knowing full well my own experience with my FX 6300>i5 4690 I can saw it's WELL WORTH IT!

 

Not saying the FX doesn't provide playable framerates, but it's not perfect by any means, but the i5 can do it more efficiently and faster with less dips in the games that create them more often.

Fx 6300 gets a lot of crap, but its decent. wait until it throttles before you upgrade. and why do you have a cooler worth more then the cpu that its cooling?!?! anyway, you can probably overclock it balls to the walls so

even if you got the GTX 970 that cpu will bottleneck it. You will get better FPS, with the i5.
