EVGA GTX 980 FTW Waterblock

I was wondering a waterblock for a reference board would fit the EVGA FTW edition.

I know the FTW has upgraded power delivery but it looks like reference board that just had been fully populated. But I have no idea.

Thanks :3

The internet agrees.

I haven't found a FTW PCB shot on google images to compare the stock card to. You should try and get in tough with EVGA and see what they think.

I think it should fit, but don't take my word for it. As @DildorTheDecent said, contact evga.

Either way you really should not buy a 980, especially the more expensive versions. Why? Because if you're going to spend 600$+ on gpus because you want the ultimate performance, you're much better off spending it on 2 R9 290s or gtx 970s (although be careful with the 970s, they may or may not have a crippling memory bug) and getting much better performance than ANY 980, no matter how much you overclock it, even at stock clocks. If you want to water cool it you won't even have to worry about R9 290s being hotter or louder than you'd want.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Ive heard this argument so many times ok so, in Australia it is hard to find reference r9 290s. When they are in stock they are $450 dollars. 2 of them 900. Already more expensive than the 980. Then two water blocks plus fittings plus back plate $320.  About $1200 for those. It is about $950 for a 980, waterblock, backplate, and fittings. They are always in stock, they require less power, and I just want one.

And remember, "about" is in bold

I just want one.

Then go ahead and buy one, no need to get nervous about it. I was just giving you my opinion on what I thought was a better way to spend your money (although I wasn't aware of australian prices).

Check EK's website and plop in your GPU number. The FTW 970 uses a custom PCB, not compatible with any other block. I'm assuming the 980 FTW is the same but can't say for certain.

Current PC build: [CPU: Intel i7 8700k] [GPU: GTX 1070 Asus ROG Strix] [Ram: Corsair LPX 32GB 3000MHz] [Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A] [SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB primary + Samsung 860 Evo 1TB secondary] [PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 750w 80plus] [Monitors: Dual Dell Ultrasharp U2718Qs, 4k IPS] [Case: Fractal Design R5]

The 980 FTW doesn't use a reference PCB therefore there's no compatible waterblocks for it from EK.  And we don't have current plans to do it.  The 980 SC uses a standard PCB and have some nice performances numbers too.

Surprising that EK doesn't have a 980 FTW block.  Peter from EK emailed me back indicating the 970 FTW block was coming in two weeks.

Yeah I spoke with an EK rep the day I made this post originally and decided to just exchange the FTW cards for the SC models. If I can't EK it then I don't want it.

I wish I could return mine but I can't anymore. This sucks because I also talked to a rep and they said that they are not going to be working on block for it. All to support the local shop :P. Love the card, just wish it had a sick water block that I can put with it.
