SSD has less space left than it should

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Use CCleaner to check how many System Restore points you have. That's likely where the issue lies.

I have a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, and according to Windows, I have 70.4 gb free. If I select all the files on the drive to see how much space it takes up, it only says 40.5GB. I should have 191.5GB free. Why does it say only 70.4? Is it actually that much free? Or is this just some sort of error? This machine was a Christmas present; so it's less than a month old. I know I haven't used 162GB of space.

Look up "disk management" and see if you've used all of your SSD storage for the OS partition.

Dont forget depending on how much RAM you have you will have a page file sitting there thats double the size of your RAM, You also have hibernation files that might not even get used as well as the WinSXS windows updates that hog space.

It's very common. It's happened to me and then I deleted all of my System Restore points(except for the one that's mandatory) and a lot of my space came back.

As I am removing them, space is freeing up. Thank you!

I know my page and hyberfile size, I set my page file manually.
