Possibility of playing local 3ds multiplayer games over the internet

I noticed that a service by the name of Xlink Kai exist. It allows older consoles to play system-linked enabled games over the internet.

Could there be a possiblity that something like this may arise for the the 3ds?

What would the be obstacles that need to be overcome besides "catching" the 3ds' wi-fi signal?

I don't know about that, but have a look at MrBean35000VR's YouTube channel.

He is currently working on a project that allows Wii games with local multiplayer to be played online. Pretty neat stuff

That seems like a cool project. Requires a homebrew wii, no? I hope that someone can make a similiar working for 3ds games.

I would be surprised if it didn't.

I think at least you need to make it so your Wii can read off a SD card (via a Letterbomb I think).

The 3DS recently got 'hacked', but the hacking community is not that big on the 3DS I think..

And that Wii thing only happened really after it's life cycle. We'll see.

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up for the 3ds, at least not yet, but it would be cool to play non Nintendo network multiplayer games over wifi.

Once the wii project is available to the public, I may give it a spin since I have a wii sitting in the closet.
