Hello,

I have around $350CDN to spend on a phone. I live in Vancouver Canada.

I was looking at the

  • Sharp Aquos Crystal
  • Nexus 5
  • ASUS ZenFone 2 (The one I like most)
  • 1+1 Little too big? I like 5inch, 4.5 is small, 5.5 idk.... for texting
  • 2nd gen moto g (have a 1st gen one atm)

What's the best phone, and if you know another one. It does not have to be a name brand, I can buy it online. I want unlocked. Can, and more then willing to go used.

Thanks in advance

What's wrong with your current Moto G? It's still a plenty capable phone.

I sold for $150 to a friend, and have been "phoneless" for 2 months since I got scammed by a Chinese seller.

Oneplus One, if you can get one, love mine though!

5.5 isnt too bad for texting, you get used to it.

Is the Nexus 5 slower than ZenFone? Also how much faster is 1+1 then Nexus 5?

Judging from the specs, there about the same. The nexus 5 does run stock so expect it to be somewhat smoother. It depends how skinned the Zenfone is.

Yes, the OPO is faster, and CM is as butter smooth is can be.

Oh, what is a better buy then?

Nexus VS ZenFone

and then that VS 1+1?

Thanks in advance

ZenFone is better but Nexus 5 is out now and you need a phone so I'd go for that or, if you can stand 720p on a larger phone, then go Moto G.

Spec wise there the same.

The zenfone wins in my book because it looks better and has a bigger screen.

OPO wise theres no contest. Better battery, looks, and for $50 more you can get 64GB of storage, verses these 16GB versions.

If you can get one though, I got an invite after waiting 3 months, but that was last summer. Its gotten a LOT easier now to get your hands on one.

Yes, IMO. It has a better screen which wins me over. Nexus has stock Android though.

How is screen better?

It's not really faster.

I mean, yeah, on paper the 1+1 has a faster processor, but good luck making anything lag.

The OnePlus has a nicer camera and much better battery life. It's also a lot bigger.

The ZenPhone is a very, very light skin. So it should be pretty good.I

I've heard (and Slick even commented on it on the WAN show) that the CM skin is far from perfect.

I'd go with a Nexus tbh. I bought mine brand new for $300 and that was almost a year ago. Should be easy to find one for less than that now.

Just be careful that you don't get one that's black listed if you're buying used.

I, personally, wouldn't get the OnePlus. I'd either get a Nexus and save the money (the OnePlus is still pretty expensive) or wait for the ZenPhone.

I'm pretty stoked on the ZenPhone and think it'll be my next phone. Dual SIM ftw.

The ZenPhone might have better battery life. The new Intel chips are supposed to sip pretty gently at it.

It's worth noting that the ZenPhone also has expandable storage. So, it beats the OnePlus there as well.

It's also out of his $350 price range.

I don't think it's a good idea to be living without a phone in this day and age TBH. I would not wait and I would buy the Nexus now.

$199.

I'd wait.

You get a much bigger battery, expandable storage, etc with the ZenPhone at a much cheaper price.

You could grab a cheap phone off Craigslist in the mean time if you really need something to tide you over and still save hundreds over a OnePlus, and around $100 less than a Nexus.

It is better in my opinion. Put stock Android on it and it beats the Nexus in pretty much every way.

I own the OnePlus One. However you won't be getting it for 350. With shipping duties, taxes, etc you'll end up around 400$ if what I've read from the forums is correct. Living in the US I stayed very close to 350

The new Zefone seems great.

You could always get the first gen moto x or the new moto g
