ficabj5

As you can see from the title, i have spilled some coffee on my lap top keyboard and not it won't work. I think that everything but the keyboard works just fine, but some keys don't. What do you recommend I do?

Put it to hang on something so that gravity will cause the coffee to move out of the laptop. Then or alternatively, put it in a bucket of rice.

Put it in rice. The rice will attract Asian people who will fix your laptop.

just kidding....... But seriously do it :P

Try to clean it with some wet q-tips (or something bigger), so it doesn't stick, but make sure there is no power. (No battery or anything )

get a hair dryer, set it to max heat and point it at your keyboard at a slight angle about 3-4 inches away and hold it for around 2 hours

Just remove the battery, and the power cord, wait a bit to be sure that there's no current lingering, then remove the keyboard, there should be a serialnumber on the back search for that on amazon or e-bay or something. Buy new keyboard = profit?

Just replace the keyboard, had the same thing with a laptop the other day that had beer spilled over it, wouldn't even turn on until i removed the keyboard, ordered a replacement for the equivalent of around $50 here, and everything is running again except for the bluetooth

Replacing the keyboard is the best option.

You can check Craigslist for parts, lots of people post laptops for parts.

Depending on the latop, swapping out the keyboard isn't that hard.

many aren't even screwed in, just held down by the body of the laptop

and connected via a ribbon cable.
