Are the prices on 1440p gonna drop in 2015?

Justhavocman

With the rise in popularity of 4k gaming and the constant price drops of 4k monitors and\or the creation of budget ones , do you guys think that the prices on 1440p monitors will drop in 2015? I'm asking this because i got the upgrade itch , going from a 670-->970 and from 1080p-->1440p . Should i wait out for the newer gen cards like the 390 and nvidias answer to that as well as some hypothetical price reductions on 1440p monitors due reasons explained above?

Maybe, though there are some pretty decent priced 1440p monitors

I doubt they will drop THAT much, 1440p are still a very small market and due to low demand and lower production have increased costs

Yeah 1440p is really easy to run now tbh

My single 780ti pretty much handles every game maxed out at 1440p Ultra (maybe like only 2x AA)

I highly doubt it, however if they'll drop significantly I'll consider an upgrade for my self :P

No. I don't think so.

You'll see massive drops in 4k, as they're much more mainstream and thus demand more of the market.

Just save up and buy a card that's 4k ready; pretty much any card released here on out should be able to handle 4k with relative ease.

The 970 should handle 1440p pretty well, as well, and is a nice low cost option after you sell your 670.

I'll prolly buy the monitor now and wait up to see what both sides have to offer now that we draw closer to mainstream 4k gaming.
