Army style case construction planning help please.

B@ttery

Is it possible to take those Army ammo case's what are sold by our Army Surplus store. And can i convert that to PC-case? Because i have been wanted to do something ARMY style case for a while now. And now i have place where i can work it. I just want a tips and good info. Like how i drill those motherboard damping holes. Also something info to include how i handle the cooling, maybe is time to make a water cooling case? And o'h most important thing is that, what type of motherboard would be the best choice? I guessing I-mtx?

Failure is not an option!

Umm... If you're looking for ammo boxes made out of metal, it can be a challenge to shove even an m-ITX system into an ammo box designed to hold 200 .50 BMG cartridges. Plus a lot of times those are waterproof to an extent at least (that means they're also air tight), to not let cartridges get wet, as it wound bring problems if they got wet... I don't have a .50 BMG ammo box, but I have a little smaller one (although mine is labeled for 9mm ball cartridges, but it's the same size).

What I'm saying: you would have to go through very extensive modding, and even then, an m-ITX board may not completely fit inside of it, unless you could fit all the components inside a box that has as much room as 27,5 cm x 17 cm x 14 cm...

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

using an ammo case sounds like an awesome idea but it would be a lot of work.

I had wanted a military themed case so I got an antec gx700.  This case has as a military theme but I wanted to mod mine to give it a custom look.  I still haven't finished it yet.   These cases are dirt cheap as well.

if you wanted to change the look of the case it would be easy to spray paint a cool camo pattern on it or beat the case up so that it looks all old and scratched up..
