CPU and RAM mhz

aur0n

I have seen many system builds with RAM sticks that have very high frequencies even if the CPU is reported to have a lower maximum capacity. For examples, I have a 5820k that from what I see on the CPU page it only supports DDR4 up 2133 Mhz, so my question is: is there any befit to have such high RAM sticks, considering the CPU RAM frequency limit set to be much lower?

that cap is for not overclocked ram the overclocked ram can get much higher then that.

linus has a great video on the affects of high frequency ram against lower frequency ones.

and to sum up that video is:- if you are not using on board graphics it makes basically no extra preformance and not really worth

the money especially while gaming

all about the bandwidth.

in games you get next no performance increase.

pretty much if you're just gaming overclocking ram has pretty kinda useless but

in the forum it's either you need it or you don't.

and if you don't need it do you know why we overclock it?

Because overclocking is so addicting that if you can you would even overclock your chair or something :).

but hey overclocking your endurance in bed is something that can benefit you in the long run too :)

well back on topic. pretty much it's either your overclock is successful or not. they may give almost no benefit to the average guy but it's still overclocking once you do overclocking you find ways to overclock something else.

Live your life like a dream.
