4790K Shows Up As 4770K In Benchmarks

So I ran a few game benchmarks such as the older Street Fighter benchmark, X3 Terran Conflict etc... and for some reason the 4790K shows up as a 4770K in the corner where the details are, Checked on the CPU itself and in CPU-Z and it is a 4790K but just find it odd, Could it be an old program incompatibility or microcode error ?

probably older benchmarking tools, out before the 4790K was out.

No big deal, because they are basicly the same chip.

They ARE the same chip, just clocked higher and attached to the heatsink with better materials.

Don't forget the all the important extra electronics on the backside, IT'S IMPORTANT !!! :P

I don't think there are anything else different between the two.  It really is just a 4770K, higher binned for higher clockspeeds.

From what I've read it has extra electronics on the backside, Better thermal contact/interface and as you said higher binned, Still irks me that it shows up as a 4770K on the older benchmarks ^_^

Yeah, higher binned just means it can take higher volts and sustain higher clock speeds, but nothing physically changes in them :P  The thermal interface is just some paste xD

Actually physically speaking the reverse side of the CPU had some extra electronics i.e resistors etc.. added to smooth out voltage etc...but that's pretty much it.

actually the 4790k has more capacitors on the backside to aid in stability.
