Synthetic-Pulse
Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

I would like to know what you think is the best nvidia and amd card I could get for $100, that budget really is the max.

AMD R7 260x http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r7260xcnf4

Nvidia 750 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn750oc1gi

750ti is $109 if you can get 10 dollars http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp43757kr - I would try get this

Probably uh...GT 730 from nvidia.  That's a terribly low budget though >.<

Or a 250x from AMD.

You won't, it's that simple.

Save a couple more paychecks or allowances and get yourself a 265. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/club-3d-video-card-cgaxr72656

I agree with this ^. If you wait a tad longer and save you could end up with a much better GPU in the long run @Synthetic-Pulse. ;)

There are $100 cards, but I can't recommend them. They'll be pretty much obsolete within the next 2 years. Get a better card now, you won't regret the small wait.

I have no need for a better card, I play older games.

What games do you play exactly?

If they're old, do you even need a GPU?

You still won't regret a better card if you ever decide to play newer games. Even with older ones, you can consider modding, or just absolutely cranking settings.

Get an r9 265 over the 260X, big improvement. Save up just a little more for it.

Actually, if you just play old games, just use the integrated GPU on your CPU.  The HD4600 is plenty powerful for your purposes.

Why have a high end pc if im not using it? I am tired of sinking money it to high end gaming and will no longer do it. I am more then happy with a low end rig to play my old games.

Agreed. Some people don't understand that sometimes people are happy with lower end cards, (I was for a while, Radeon HD 6450, lol) I hate how people are suggesting to get something more powerful for no reason at all. If you want a good solid card for $100, here's a radeon 260 :)

Mind if I ask what older games you play?

EDIT: Just noticed there's a $20 rebate on the card as well.

Even if you don't agree, I don't think those who suggest to get a better card really at fault too. It just make sense to go with at least 750Ti in this generation anyway for gaming.

since your PC spec has changed, maybe you can start with your current build to see if your current IGP is already up on par with what you expect?

I'd go with GT 740 or GTX 750 or R7 260X if $100 is really as far as you can go, but I would really try to squeeze in another ten bucks for GTX750Ti.

I agree with MRL, as a minimum you should be getting a 750Ti or R7 260X.

Another option is to buy a used card.  R9 270's and 7870s can be found for around $100 that will give you much better performance.  Just do your homework before buying a used card and make sure there is some kind of money back guarantee or you can test the card out before purchase.
