Gaming laptop to build

Timmy_D_Law

Hi, I apologise in advance if I have posted in the wrong thread, if so just move it in the right place, thanks.

I am about to spend over a ground for a laptop and I want to make sure to not do stupid mistakes, that's why I ask you guys your opinions.

The laptop in question can be customized and built for you from this site https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/vortexIV-17/

What I am going for is:

The 17.3" Vortex IV

CPU: quand core mobile i74810MQ (2.8GHz)6MB

GPU: GeForce GTX 870M 6GB GDDR5 diret x 11

RAM: 16GBkingstom hyper-x inpact 1600MHz SODIMM (2x8GB)

First drive: 120GB SSD kingston hyper 3k, SATA 6Gb/s

Second drive: 1TB hybrid (SSHD) 64MB cache, 5400 rpm SATA 6Gb/s

OS: No os chosen since I have got an orginal copy of windows 8 and I am going to install ubuntu 14.04

all together I am around £1,239 is it a good value for this system.

What about downgrade the CPU to i74710MQ (2.5GHz) 6MB to save around £90 or go with 8GB of RAM instead of 16GB.

Can the GPU cope with the latest games of today or do I have to go with the GTX 9xxM series, but the price rises a lot with those cards.

In the combination of SSHD and SSD a good idea, because no manufacturer does offer this combo of drives (MSI does SSD+HDD) and if they do the price would be much more than mine right now.

Thanks for any suggestion, my plan is to use this laptop for quite long time.

The ONLY TWO things (That I know of) you can Up/Downgrade is the RAM and Storage

Oh shit I didn't realise that the link was to a site where you CAN customize it.  FM

Because he had a hard drive.
