[PSU] EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2 general click noise

isurvivorz

Hi,

I just completed my first build (yay) about 2 days ago, and the first few time i powered it up, i was really excited so I might have missed or didn't notice it, but last night when I shut off my pc, my PSU (EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2) make ONE pop or click sound, a really noticeable, and pretty loud, I tried powering it on and off again and it made the same noise, should I be worried? I looked it up and got mixed results, some says its just some relay on high end PSU, some says it isn't normal, which one is correct?

Here is the PSU: http://www.ncix.com/detail/evga-supernova-750-g2-80-f0-94405-1360.htm

P/S: I'm starting to like this forum A LOT, I've posted a few questions and got reply real fast and really informative, thanks linus! :D

Thanks for your time!

It's the sound of a relay (It's what I was told, don't have the link). My RM750 makes it too and other people's G2 750's make it too. No need to worry about it

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

thanks for the fast reply, I just upload a video of the noise just about now, here is the link, please take a look and confirm that it is just a relay sound

the video is still being process by youtube, so if it says "this video is unavailable", just click on the title of the video and get directed to youtube and watch it there, thanks!

Yep, that's perfectly natural. I'm not sure what protection circuit it's part of, but that click noise is linked to some manner of protection. Mine does it too.
