Gtx 980 or 970?

Ok so I am doing my first pc build very soon which I have been saving for a long time , and yes I probably will have a build log. All I need to get to complete my pc is my gpu and cpu. Right now i have 650$ should I

A) get the 980 for around 500-600 $

or

B) Get the 970 and my cpu

now if I go for the 980 i will have to wait about two months to afford my cpu, my question is which one should i get will the 980 be worth the wait , keep in mind I don't want to upgrade too soon

Thanks for your time! :D

Do you plan on playing on 1080p or 1440p?

If 1080p then pick 970 if 1440p and you are willing to wait then 980 but even 970 will be OK with it.

I am very disspointed with the GTX 980. The GTX 970 is a way better buy at this point. If you feel like waiting then wait two months and see how the prices have changed if not then go ahead and get a 970 and a new shiny CPU.

If you are planning on using a 1080 monitor, the 970 is a very good option.

I doubt the pricing will change, and whats wrong with the 980?

Well, $550 vs. $340...and you get about 20% more performance. It's not as good price/performance, but the highest end components never are.

The value in the EU is terrible. A 780ti DCU2 goes for 429€ and a Palit GTX 980 goes for 511€ (both are the cheapest options)

FUCK! I only said that because I wanted you to rage at me.

Damn... now I guess I'm the only one pissed with nVidia's new gen because I bought my 770 for $459 and a 970 is out for $350. fml

Should I sell my 770 for 600$ (it's what's worth where I live) and buy 2x970? Uhmmm......

Contrary to popular belief I am not really a fan boy of anything other than value for money. That's why I bought a 970 it's just the smart choice if you base your logic on value for money and not brand biased. If I was an AMD fanboy I would have bought an R9 290 a long time ago but my fuck the value of the 970 just cannot be denied on any level.

Again, not in Europe. In the UK the cheapest 970 reference design is 10-15% more expensive than a decent aftermarket R9 290 (like the tri-x). 7xx series was really expensive over here too.
