Sapphire Vapor-x 290x or the Nvidia 980

Go to solution Solved by TheMcSame,

1- Varies. Here's some benchmarks I found, I'll post 1080p and 4k. Also, I'm aware that I took benchmarks that focused on the 970 but they still show the 980.

2. Again, it varies from card to card. Comparing apples to apples, Nvidia's reference cooler has performed much better than AMD's reference cooler for a while and seeing as the 980 reference cooler is similar to the titan cooler that you find on the titan cards and the 780's this series is no exception.

3. Again, it varies. Both cards will be an improvement over the 650, it most cases the 980 will yield the biggest improvement.

So I have wanted the Sapphire r9 290x Vapor-X for awhile now. The Vapor-X card matches my system, has great cooling, and has a very nice looking back-plate. Now that the new 980 from Nvidia has come out, I am thinking about that as well. I honestly have no Idea which one that I will get. I have a few questions:

1- What is the performance difference between these two cards?

2- How good is the cooling on the 980?

3- how much of a performance increase will I get from each of these cards?

I am currently running a PNY 650. Thanks for your comments!
