Slim vs Traditional Gaming Laptops

redjak01

Hi everyone,

I currently have a desktop and I love it but I am considering going back to a laptop soon for school. I used to have the Asus G75 back in the day and it was amazing, I also had the MSI GS70 which I felt didn't have as much power but offered the slim profile. I recently saw the new Aorus laptop which gave me some hope for slim gaming laptops but am still hesitant. Any thoughts about or advice would be awesome. Should I just get a brick laptop if I am concerned more about performance?

I would go for a brick because slim doesnt really bring much to the table except that its slim which really doesnt matter

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

my view is if you want a desktop replacement get  a big powerful laptop.  If your looking for a desktop supplement then get a nice thin light laptop.

This was kinda what I was thinking as well. The only thing that made me pause was the new Aorus 7. Thanks for all the advice so far.

It really depends on where you are going to take it.

If it's going to be sitting on your lap and transferred from place to place, get a thin laptop.

If it's going to be seated to a specific desk and doesn't need to move around that often, get a thick one.

For me, I use an ultrabook instead, because it can handle the few moderate games I play.

I'd want to do all my gaming on it so an ultrabook wouldn't work. I'd like to use it for classes but I don't want to to sacrifice too much performance.

We'll probably see better implementation of the Slim form factor in the next few product cycles. But I'd get a brick solely because I'd get more power, customizability, and features. That, and only the Alienware stuff can be considered very heavy.
