Total Noob Question - How to paint part of 360 Case

Silver_

Hi, I've never done any sort of case modification before so I want to try it out by painting part of my X-Box 360, since it's not as valuable to me as my computer. Can anyone tell me step-by-step how to paint the Memory Unity Door of the front panel as seen here:

I know how to get it off, I just want to know how to paint it properly, like the process and what type of paint to use, etc.

Linus has a video for things like that.

You can just use normal matte paint. Spray in quick even lines across the 360 with the can about 15cm away. TBH the front of a 360 is really easy to paint so you shouldn't really have any problems.

Use Plastidip

1)Put your first coat and wait 15-20mins

2)Put 2nd coat and wait 5-10mins

3)than put 3 more coats but you dont have to wait this time.

(optional)4)if you didnt achive the color you want and you want darker put more coats

4)Let it dry Plastidip usually takes an hour to fully dry but wait 2 hours just to be sure

5)put everything back together

REMİNDER:You want to use masking tape to cover the parts you dont want to paint

REMİNDER:You want to spray evenly troughout the part you are painting

I know how to get it off, I just want to know how to paint it properly, like the process and what type of paint to use, etc.

Personally I'd take it apart down to each individual part to get it paint on the sides and edges easier.

Spray Paint:

First if you want the paint to last especially since that part will get abrasion and wear from contact I'd prep it by scuffing it up with scotch brite and clean it thoroughly before painting.

Afterwards prime the part using the proper primer and let it sit the manufactures set time before apply a second coat is necessary, thinner coats are better than thick.

Once the primer has dried to touch usually 30mins -1 hour apply the first top coat and same as the primer apply light coats until the part is evenly coated.

Let it sit for at least 24hours before reinstalling.

As for plasti dip @BarisERY explain it very well, just to make sure you make cut lines before peeling offany masking.

I'm curious. Is there a way to paint a part with regular acrylic paint and a paintbrush, or do I pretty much have to use some sort of spray paint?

You can hand paint it like a model car but it will have brush strokes in the finish, spraying it is just easier especially if there is mesh or vent holes to hit all the surfaces.
