Who has a A8-5600k?

Who has one, if so and you overclocked it, what was your best result (with temps and voltage)?

Edit:
I got 4.3 Ghz with 1.475v 52c MAX LOAD, 45-47c gaming load. Hyper T4 and using stock thermal paste.

I'm running at 4GHz at stock voltage... Delta of around 10~20C to ambient using a DeepCool Gammaxx S40 cooler and DeepCool Z5 thermal paste...

AMD Overdrive monitoring at idle:

5c30542135.png

Load temps increase the delta to around 25~30C...

Edit:

Specs in sig...

Edit2:

Realistic loads only... Not risking this in a CPU stress test (until I get ambients down to around 25C)...

Not risking it... Too damn hot in my room to push for higher overclocks... I also need this machine to run for around 6 years... She's turning 1 this December...

Edit:

Someone made it to 7992.2MHz

Dang, I got a bad chip, it overclocks horribly, I can't get to 4.4 without going into 1.5v (Higher actually)

BTW, I'm using a Gigabyte F2A55M-DS2 Rev. 1.0 which people say can't overclock properly... If I had money to burn to get a replacement system and my room is cool enough, I might try to go higher...

Hmm, yea probably, I have a MSI A88x-G43 (Using) and a MSI FM2-A55M-E33 (not using), I might be doing a test to see if I can get better overclocking results on one of the other, so far I wouldn't know since I only had a stock heatsink on my 5600k when I was using the older board, then upgraded to the Hyper T4 once I got my new one.

I'd suggest getting a beefier heatsink (like a DeepCool Assassin) and sticking to the A88x board because the A55M might have some overheating VRMs which you don't want...

That might allow you to go beyond 4.4... Besides, the only thing the stock heatsink is good for is a coaster...

I just took the fan from my old stock heat sink and put it in one of my many ghetto builds. And I plan on upgrading to intels new X99 water cooled, which I'm going to put my 5600k back to stock and use it for another build

  • 2 weeks later...

i also have a an a8-5600k build.

a8-5600k (igpu disable)

ar-01 cpu cooler (does vary well)

msi fm2-a55m-e55

8 gb ram Kingston 9-9-9-27 v1.65

hd 6870

650w psu( overkill lol)

i use to run @ 105x39 on stock voltage(can't change the voltage on my mobo) even tho i should be able to go alittle further at stock voltage, it just won't go. but after i did a bios update i can't get stable past 103x38 now :(

i do alot more posting on OCN and from my understanding you should be able to get a stable 4.5ghz @ 1.3v.

and you can get alittle better cooling on the a55m mobo vrm's like so

I had two.

One did 5.6GHz / 1.58v

And 5.1GHz (24/7 stable) at 1.45v

The new one does 5GHz @ 1.475v

wow! nice!

How did you control the voltages?

its stock volage.... auto controlled, and its really not a good OC. its only slightly better then what an auto OC can do.

It's relatively good... I'm at 4GHz at 1.375V (auto-voltage)... Can't risk a higher overclock since the ambients here are too high (41C at worst) and I don't think the VRM of my mobo could handle it...

I'm looking to get an A88X and Athlon 760K soon so that I can reassign my current system as the family computer (running XBMC on top of Mint or Peppermint if possible)...

I wonder how far I can overclock that thing...

i would have to disagree standard turbo for the the a8-5600k is 3.9ghz so i don't consider it overclocking till you passed the 3.9ghz mark. i can't even get a 10% OC which would be 4.29ghz. which is pretty sad. but you should be able to hit 4.2ghz without a problem.

I lost the lottery, on my APU and on my GPU (I need 1.3v just to get my 270x to 1150 core and 1500 memory) also i tried 4.7 Ghz @ 1.6v, booted into windows but wasn't stable.

Thermals are my problem... I don't exactly have the best cooler on the market and the ambients in my room are already uncomfortably high...
