OMFG So Excited For Shield Tablet!

Guest

So as soon as I heard about the Shield Tablet, I sold my recently-given Lenovo desktop, which I threw some money into, and now is a pretty decent PC.

Anyway, I was thinking of building a super-budget Hackintosh with the money, but decided against it. Now, I'm so freaking ready. I got enough for the tablet + the controller, and even though I don't love Andoird, I still have my iPad for non-gaming scenarios.

So, are you guys getting Shield Tablets? This is my first above-$100 tech purchase, and for once, I feel no regret for shelling out a bunch of money. Nvidia, I believe you can give me the tablet of my dreams!

*fanboyism over*

If nothing else, I'd love to stream games in bed from my PC in the living room.

I won't be getting one myself, but they are pretty cool.

I might consider it depending on the price. If it's smilar to the Nexus 7, I'll consider it, if it's $100 more then I'll pass.

What PC do you have? Cuz the one in your profile doesn't quite cut it for Game Stream ...

The base SHIELD Tablet is $299, which is about $70 more than the base Nexus 7. Considering that it has game streaming, a much more powerful SoC, a pen, and still close to stock Android, I think that's a pretty good tradeoff.

Only disadvantage I can think of right now is that it can't run the Android L preview, haha, but that's not really that usable yet as an everyday tablet OS IMO.

Disclaimer: interning for them right now :)

Interesting. Still not sure if I'd get it since my GPU lacks game stream, but I might.

It's still a pretty good choice if you're in the market for a tablet in that price range. Something to consider over the Nexus 7 2013, because that's almost a year old at this point and might become obsolete soon (don't get me wrong, I have one and it's an awesome tablet). As well as the iPad Mini Retina, as it's $100 cheaper.

True, but all I'd use it for is an ereader and watch videos.

I think the advantage there would be the pen if you ever wanted to take notes on your books... If not it's kind of a wash.

One thing about the Shield Tablet vs most Android tablets is that it's one of the only Android devices to support Netflix HD (as it has the special DRM that Netflix requires). I think the Nexus 7 along with like one Samsung tablet also supports the Netflix HD DRM. But only 2 or 3 tablets actually support it.

Stylus is interesting, and I'm Australian so Netflix actually isn't a thing that exists.
