Overclock AMD Phenom II x4 830

So I've got an Asus M5A78L-M LX Plus and instead of buying an Fx 6300 I was thinking of OC'ing my 830. I hear denebs are easy to OC but how do I get this feat accomplished? My cooler is a relatively nice one btw. ^^ 

The only time I've overclocked is with my old Athlon 3200+ rig and I got that up to 2.4ghz stable and I forgot how I did it. 

Halp plez?

Honestly I would delid the CPU and try to overclock it to hell for fun, then later, buy an fx 6300 :D

 

 

Just my opinion, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

OC the damn thing as far as you can without delidding. Not satisfied? Delid the damn thing, replace IHS and THEN OC the damn thing as far as you can. Broke the CPU? Get a 6300 and be happy that you got to tinker with cool stuff :D.

 

Seriously though if you want to seriously OC the 830 you do it carefully. Increase the FSB by small increments or the multiplier and up the voltage if it isn't stable. It's just trial and error.
