Steelseries Elite or Audio-Technica MTH-M50's?

Mr.Foxxy
Go to solution Solved by TheRoss0411,

Sennheiser HD 558s

So I'm getting real tired of my Astro A40's so I'm selling them off to a good friend.

Here is where all of you guys come in. I can't decide between these two headphones so i'd like some advice from people who may know something about these two headphones.

I listen to metal with the occasional rock or blues tangent as well as what ever audio is coming from the FPS and other hipster games I play... Anyhow I'm looking at quality and additional convenient features. Also If anyone was wondering money is not the concern, but if you swing any other suggestions at me try keep them under $300 AUD.

Cheers!

I'd personally say Sennheiser HD558. I tried the ATH-M50s, they sound good, but I wouldn't use them for music, they feel like theyre lacking something. and the HD558 is alot more comfortable(for me, since i have a big head 7 3/4" hat)

In a sense would the ATH m50s be too over hyped?

I mean those 558's crush the steelseries by price (yes I do see my original post)

Weighing out the pros and cons the Sennheiser 558s as suggested seem to be quite nice so I'll try em' out for a while. Also as an added benefit that they have a 1/4inch jack for monitoring my amp, I think it's time to go back to Sennheiser!

You are paying %33 more for looks of a headphone you wont see on yourself, unless you keep a mirror at your desk, which is cool I guess.

I like to look pretty, but you do have a point I am never going to see myself in them.... I'll look into the 518s as well and make a decision.

I know, I still haven't made any purchases just looking around and plus it's nice of anyone to give any input. As I stated I'm not too fussy on the price because this set will hopefully last another 3 years.

Wouldn't be any different in my possession either.

Looks like I should have had the title as "Sennheiser  558s or 518s?" never the less I prefer the look of the 558s, but a valid point that I'd be paying $70 more....

Maybe I should yolo? :o

Nah I'm going to go with the 558s because they appeal to me and hey they are bound to last longer than my old Tritton ax 180s that lasted a week and then just stopped working.... such a waste.
