144hz monitor or 1440p Korean monitor?

rambi36

Hey guys! I am currently doing a whole overhaul of my pc and my setup and in a couple of months I plan on getting a new monitor because my Dell S2240M is a bit too small for me. I have no idea if I should get a higher refresh rate monitor or higher resolution. I play quite a bit of FPS games so the high refresh rate and lower input latency might benefit me (My Graphics Card is an EVGA GTX 780 FTW edition by the way), but I would be sacrificing better colors. A 1440p monitor would look significantly better but I'm sacrificing the higher refresh rate and input latency. So what monitor do you guys think I should get? My max budget is about $300 US (I can stretch about $20 more if I need to) and I don't do photo work and stuff like that where I need extremely accurate colors.

I vote 144hz. I went with 120hz benq xl2420t and will never touch a 60hz monitor again. Mind you I turn down settings in fps games for 120 fps. I could care less about color accuracy. Its not like TN panels cant produce colors lol

I bought a 290 followed by a Asus VG248QE and play Battlefield 4 @ 100 ~ 120+ fps for a few weeks, switching back to my old 60hz monitor was terrible (DAT GHOSTING DOE). Granted the color is not what I would call amazing on the Asus. But color is not really important if you are gaming.

Overall I am happy with my purchase of the Asus VG248QE.

1440p! Once you go past Full HD, you never come back

Nothing special about full hd (1080p) anymore; time for 1440p to take its position.

Do you really need to have this new monitor soon though? I could even wait a year to save up and put up with the current monitor. A nice monitor that covers all the things that you need will last you years, I'm still using the Alienware 120hz monitor but these days 1080p is not enough and want to move onto 1440p and 144hz when I get the money

Just Buy an X-star DP2710LED or the Qnix variety and Overclock it to 96Hz or even 120Hz, you get IPS 1440p with a high refresh rate
What more do you want ;D

This.

Qnix QX2710 best purchase I ever made.

Additionally since they have 1 input and no scaler, I would presume the input lag is similar if not better, even if the response time is a bit higher than a 144hz.

You may not be able to max at 96hz but throw in a second GTX 780 when the 800 series comes out and you're good to go.
