How would i go about making a custom motherboard cover

So i want to make a motherboard cover for the front side of the pcb.

 

what kind of a material should i use, i dont really want to spend much more than 30$ on this and i should be able to cut it as long as it is not metal

 

Matx mobo btw.

 

i was thinking some kind of hard plastic but im not sure

That's a bit thin, you're going wanna go for 3mm/0.118". I get all my acrylic from a local place that's quite a drive from Saskatoon so that's not really an option. This is the kinda stuff you going to want to look for, but I have yet to find an place online that will ship to Canada, so if you find one let me know.

Yeah, acrylic thinner than 3mm is extremely easy to bend and can melt and crack easily when trying to cut it. 3mm is your best bet.

 

Here's the place that I know you should be able to get some.  Just be aware that the Google maps address is wrong and they won't be able to cut the sheet for you, so be prepared to haul a 5'x5' sheet home some how.

For what your doing get a sheet of opaque acrylic/plexi around 1/8 " or 3mm, many places like local plastic shops sell precut sheet for fairly decent prices, or go online and grab some from amazon. 

 

Cutting and fabrication depends on the tools you have access to, in general if you hand cutting use a fine tooth blade for plastics or metal, for power tools like jigsaws you can pick-up a plexi or plastic cutting blade those work very well, drilling holes in plexi, be aware it tends to crack if you go too fast, just take you time if you using normal wood drill bits or sow down when your about to go through, a steeped drill bit for metal tends to prevent that from occuring.
