Good Headphones for $100?

RelentlessAF

Hey guys, so my little brother is trying to buy a pair of headphones. Despite all the things I tell him about them he wants to buy beats. *vomits* Anyways, I told him not to buy them and that I'd come on here and ask you guys what he should buy. I am by no means an audiophile but I know he can get a much better listening experience than beats for his budget.

They are mostly for listening to music but also games. He listens to a lot of different genres from Metal to Dubstep. So mostly Bass Heavy but good highs and mids as well. Let me know what you guys recommend for him.

Thank you.

I haven't actually heard him listen to rap before so I don't think he likes rap. Thankfully.

HD 439, Shure 440, or HD 518 if you don't mind open headphones.

Sennheiser HD439 is an option, and maybe if he can spend a bit more fostex t50rp + mod kit from mayflower and have you/ him mod them (really simple to do, video guide as well)

Depends, what is it modding? The drivers or just the physical housing of the speakers?

I'll find you the video hold on.

It's actually really easy, it's just a little bit time consuming.

Interesting, I'll keep it as an option just because modding is fun :). I'll let him know and see if he wants to do that.

If you do decide to do it, it'll be far better than any option around ~120 $ (Should be able to find the t50rp somewhere for ~100$ and the mod kit is 20$)

V-Moda is a Beats killer, so if you can't convince him of anything else, know for sure that you can get all-metal construction plus tons of bass for less.

If you do that then make sure you buy some sort of padding for the headband.
