Corsair AX860i Custom Sleeved Cables - Red

legend8887

For my build I will be getting the AX860i PSU from Corsair, and the theme will be red and black. Do you think it is a good idea to buy their separate custom sleeved cables? Looks, performance, silence, all of that means everything to me.

That's your own choice really. If you love them and you want them get them.

I wouldn't really get the AX860i, theyre just overpriced and their fan profile is awful. The semi-passive mode is wonky. You're better off with a 750/850 G2, much better fan profile and a better quality & quieter fan and they have custom sleeved cables as well that aren't nylon plastic but just uses real paracord braid. Let's not forget the customer service of them.

The cables themselves are somewhat low quality, but I guess it is better than nothing. $100 is of course a steep price for zip performance increase.

Don't know why you mention silence when talking about cables

I own them and i regretted it since, the red are too "in your face".

From experience id go with the grey or black for a subtle touch :D

Why hasn't anyone made individually sleeved cables with noise-dampening material? It's such a good stupid idea.

Seriously, you had made like 4-5 threads asking question about this PSU... If you think spending $79.99 twice plus the $19.99 for the 24-pin connector (totaling $199.97 before shipping) is worth it, then that's your choice. You effectively are spending up to $400 on this PSU (the AX860i is as much as some of the top-end 1000w+ units) by doing that.

Edit: Apparently, I had misread your post. I thought you wanted a combination of the red sleeved cables and the black ones... me being dumb due to my lack of sleep lol Either way, it still your choice whether you think it is worth spending on /edit

I'll make this suggesting again, go with the EVGA Supernova 850w G2. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=94404&promoid=1070

Buy the individually sleeved kit for it: http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=10&family=Power+Supplies&chipset=+Power+Supply+Cable+Set+%28Individually+Sleeved%29

Now you got the PSU and the individually sleeved kit for the same price as the AX860i.

The AX860i is a solid PSU. If you're going for custom sleeving I'd recommend against using the Corsair Sleeving as it is pretty meh in terms of its quality and looks.

Icemods/Lutro Customs makes very good PSU sleeving that will look a lot better.
