Why is the PPD on my CPU so low?

Hi guys,

I'm currently Folding on my GPU and CPU, and while my PGU is getting over 110K, my CPU is getting a measly 9K! It's a 3930K currently running at 35MHz (Normally have it higher, but my heatsink is bad so I decided to save it the temps for now). It's at 99-100% on ALL cores, and the folding client has access to all 12 clients. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jobobee

I think that's pretty normal since CPU folding isn't as effective as GPU's, but then again i don't have enough knowledge on this topic

for how long have you been folding on your cpu? generally cpu point return is meh compared to powerfull gpu's, you might have heard this before but i will say it again, it very much depends on what wu you are working on, i think you might see it peak beetwen 20-30k ish on your cpu with the right work unit, just keep folding and keep track of what wu you are working on.

9k does sound abit low though, it's been some time since i folded on the desktop pc, so i can't remember the exact wu, but i remember one particular wu on the cpu side that was fairly small and had low point return, you might just be working on that one, i could get beetwen 6-18k ish on my 3770k.

That sounds about right. I haven't folded on my CPU in a while but I think I got around 9K PPD

It's gone up to 15K now. That's decent I suppose.

That sounds about right to me. My grandma's A6-3650 APU (CPU folding only) gets about 2-4K.

my 2600k gives me 8-15k depending on the WU. So you should get a little more than that, maxing out at about 20k i think.

But i dont take cpu folding on my cpu very serious, im more concentrated on the gpu :P

Is it your 780ti with the 110k btw?

Not sure what's going on, but the 3770 in my other rig consistently hits 18k-23k, CPU alone.

My GPU is the one that stays at 8K lol

EDIT: now that I solved F@H's issues, running a healthy 25-27K, 15-17K on the E3-1230V2, 9-10K on the GT 640.
