How much of an srh 840 is the srh 440?

With the 840 pads installed, how much closer is the 440 to the 840?

SRH440 and SRH840 use the same drivers. SRH840 just has better earpads among other things.

Personally I find both of those headphones quite boring.. but that's up to personal preference I guess.

are you actually looking to do studio monitoring?

Just because you like good audio doesn't mean it has to be a flat sound signature.

Yea am definitely looking for a monitor to do real monitoring in my little home studio, or i would probably go for something else.

then just go for the mdr-v6 / mdr-7506 (same exact headphones)

They are cheaper and better for studio monitoring in my opinion.

Those are pretty much the golden standard for regular good old studio monitoring.

Otherwise the beyerdynamic DT 770 headphones are better than the shure or sony and are used quite often for studio monitoring.

was gonna go for the 7506 before the srh 440 but the non-removable cable is just a turn off for me

they're known to be rock solid tho

also, if it's any sign, my srh-440 cable broke within a couple months haha

Personally I would go for the DT770 if you have the budget

they are extremely similar phones, the 440 driver housing is a little smaller diameter but a little deeper, and the 840 is bigger but more shallow.

my 440 pads were old worn and hard so I stuck on my extra 840 pads which sealed better and made them sound extremely similar.

Will work for electronic components and parts

DT770's aren't as flat though.

DT880 are great then, they're the most neutral headphones in the DT lineup from beyerdynamic
