AMD R9 290 With Arctic AX3 Temps ITX Case (Silverstone Raven RVZ01)

I am going balistic for doing this and the temps you gonna love!

We all know the R9 290 is a loud card with the stock cooler and gets hot, in a itx case like mine even hotter.

So what i end up doing is making my small pc even more crazy.

R9 290 with an Arctic Xtreme 3 in the most nice small system, yes that is how i like it.

Pics time :D

If you can see it looks pretty awesome in a small case like this.

Now lets talk about the airflow.

If you can see in the last pic the fan is configured as an intake fan.

On my cpu i make my 2 fans (80mm and 120mm) outtake fans.

This will cause the cpu get a little bit hotter (CPU is OC to 4.2Ghz with a vcore of 1.240 and max temp is 70c under heavy gaming load BF4 Ultra Preset)

To say it at least it works pretty wel.

The Test System

Intel Core i5 4670k @ 4.2Ghz
8Gb DDR3 G.skill sniper @ 2133Mhz
Sapphire R9 290 With Arctic Xtreme 3 @ 1000/1350Mhz

Silverstone SST-ST45SF-G (450W) Gold 80 Plus PSU < Yes guys this works because the max wattage the R9 290 use even with the OC = 190w (more on that later)
Silverstone Raven RVZ01 Case

MSI Z87I
Noctua NH-L12

Pretty nice system right :D

Temps time, after running 50 times Grid 2 and 2 hours of BF4 multiplayer with 64 persons in a room on max settings 1920x1080 my temps are

Pretty insane right i even got enough OC headroom.

Why the fan speed is on 100% you ask? because you almost don't hear them :)

Now about the power usage.

If you checked linus video about watercooling the R9 290 he also noticed (i think he did i don't remember if he mention it)
With a better cooling solution the power draw goes down, with is usefull if you use a 450w PSU even with a OC you can hit under the 250w mark what is pretty niice because my max watt use under load is around 310w.

What leaves me with a big gap of 140w what i can do plenty of more OC with it.

So i hope you like this post my pc and this temps, i will OC more and report more temps and probs do a video about it when my silverstone short cables are here and in my case that i order just today.

And maybe linus can say hi to me here because for the sake of my lovely small lan party tv gaming crazy small pc :)

And just for fun

Yes 100% fans on the Arctic Xtreme 3 are pretty much silince even the CPU fan make more noise on 40%

I have no plan on buying one but it'd be interesting to see how it performs with just 50% fan speed. ;)
