so i have a gtx 1060, i5 8400, and 8gb ram so why is it that i get major stuttering in this game with everything on low 1080p. i here that the 8th gen cpu's are fine for this game so what could this be, is anyone else experiencing this issue ?

by the way i could play bf1 with everything on ultra (except lighting) with 4k and get 40 to 55 fps and it played smooth.

I blame it on the game / devs. Some people have massive issues other runs super smooth. A friend of mine I5 6600, 16GB, RX 480 can't get a stable 60 on 1080, low. My notebook 6700hq, 16GB, 1060 mobile runs perfectly 70-80 at 1080, medium.

The only thing I noticed that causes stutters is the resolution. Make sure that you not only select the "right" resolution of your monitor but also the refresh rate of it. At default it's always set to 59 HZ.

If you find any grammar or spelling errors please fill out entry permit A38, thanks.

what could this be

Battlefield 5 System Requirements (Minimum)

  • CPU: Core i5 6600K / AMD FX-8350
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • VIDEO CARD: DirectX 11.0 Compatible video card with 2 GB VRAM (AMD Radeon HD 7850 / nVidia GeForce GTX 660)
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 2048 MB

Battlefield 5 Recommended Requirements

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 4790 / AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or equivalent
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • VIDEO CARD: DirectX 11.1 Compatible video card with 8GB VRAM (AMD Radeon RX 580 / 6GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060)
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 6GB (8GB AMD)

Is your 1060 the 3GB or 6GB? The answer to this question is basically whether or not you can crank up GPU intensive graphic settings.

The same could be said towards CPU intensive settings since you don't have a recommended i7 nor is your i5 a K(overclockable) CPU.

Ram is most likely the culprit to your stuttering. I recommend adding 1 stick of 8GB to dual channel 16GB total.

You won't regret it and stuttering just won't exist anymore in virtually all the games you play.

its a 6gb, and i did buy 16 more gb of ram cause of black friday so ill have 24, i know thats a little overkill but it was a good deal so ill try that out in a couple of weeks. but wut i did find out today wich is weird is that usually the first game i play is completly smooth and the longer i play the worse it gets gradually. it seems like i hafto turn off my pc and turn it back on every time i want a smooth match.

It's beyond overkill. In fact, I would recommend selling the 1 stick of 8GB you already have in your PC for a good $50-$60 minimum. You won't need any more than 16GB of RAM for a very long time. Installing 24GB of RAM into a PC is beyond pointless.

This is due to RAM. When you install 16GB of dual RAM, this issue disappears. It's like a miracle. Do NOT install 24GB of RAM in your PC dude. A game rarely even comes close to 16GB of RAM while gaming and in higher demanding titles, it almost always needs to go up and over 6.5-8.5 GB to perform like it's suppose to... stutter free.

16GB is considered "a little overkill." Oh and it's nice to see that you have the 6GB 1060. This means you can crank up more GPU demanding graphic settings than you would with the 3GB. Like in games like Shadow of War and BF5.

idk if its my ram anymore cause if it was i wouldnt be able to play bf1 on ultra 4k completely smooth but i cant even play everything on low 1080p without stuttering like 60 times a match on bf5 and its alot more graphically demanding when u play 4k on bf1......so i honestly dont know maybe its just extremly poorly optimised

That i5 could be the culprit here, as well as RAM.

RAM and/or your internet and/or how well you've optimized your PC(disabled things running in the background, put your GPU on Prefer maximum performance, put your power plan on High Performance, disabled your in-game overlays, etc, etc.).

Then everyone else would be experiencing the stuttering.

You installed just 16GB total right? No reason to install 24GB. It will work just as good with 16GB. Sell the other stick for $50-$75 before the price drops on it.

no i have 24 now the reason is because ill just keep it anyway because like 3 years ago people were saying that 16 was overkill so in a few years 24 might be the norm

No, no no. The rate of increase in the amount of RAM in PCs has slowed down considerably in recent years. 16 will be the norm in a few years, most likely more years than that. I don't know what people were ever saying what you've heard but 24 will not be the norm for well over a decade, possibly 2 decades. Did you not watch the video? Watch it. There's no difference in the newest titles between 16GB and 32GB. This means 16GB will always be enough for over a decade dude. Having 24GB of RAM in your PC is like having a 5000TB hard drive. You're just never gonna use all that extra nonsense. Ever.

If it's on a harddrive, then that and also your 8GB of ram. 12GB is the new minimum for these games now. Also I noticed that BFV stutters like hell soon after loading into the match due to HDD not keeping up and bottlenecking. Might want to look at disk usage a bit.

My stuff:

Spoiler

CPU :  Intel i5 8400 | GPU : MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB

RAM : 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @ 3600MHz

Mouse : Logitech G502 HERO SE | Keyboard : Mountain Everest Max w/ Cherry MX Brown

Headset : Beyerdynamics DT990 Pro 250Ω w/ AT2020USB+

Monitor : Acer XF240H @  144Hz

I've figured out why battlefield is preforming poorly on older intel CPUs. It all has to do with the crippling of hyperthreading and speculative computing on cpus from 2016 or older that came with the spectre and meltdown patches.

With some tweaking and disabling the spectre/meltdown patches during gaming sessions I went from 97-100% cpu usage on my 2600k and getting 30-40 fps on low to 60-80% cpu usage a with a steady capped 60 fps.

I've written a step by step report on my blog about it.

Specs for reference:

i7 2600K @4600Mhz
Z68XP-UD3P
24GB kinston hyperX @1600Mhz CL9
Geforce eVGA 970 OC 4GB @ 1250Mhz core & 3750 Mhz memmory
500GB samsung 850 EVO
