New build cant decide GPU

Im building my first desktop in a few years after using a laptop for a few years, i have all the parts chosen already but i'm struggling on choosing a GPU.

These are the parts i plan on using, any recommendations for a GPU? 

CPU: Intel I7-8700k
Motherboard: MSI Z390 gaming pro carbon AC

RAM: Corsair vengeance rgb pro 3200mhz 16gb (2x8gb)

Case: NZXT H500i

SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500gb as boot drive

HDD: Seagate FireCuda 1TB

CPU cooler: Coolermaster ML240R 

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2L 750W modular PSU

 

Think thats everything, just need GPU.

depends on your budget. 1070ti and Vega 56 are the current value kings, but maybe you can go higher I don't know.

 

also be careful with that cooler and don't have high expectations on it.

Also depends on what resolution/refresh rate you play at.

what kind of market are you in, and where? Sure 1080s are priced like 2070, but the 5-10% slower 1070ti are going near or below the $400 mark while 1080 and 2070 are on or above $500.

Im in the UK so all the prices here are terrible, cant find a 1070ti for less than £450 and a 2070 is around £480 then the 2080 is £750

Ok so you still haven't outlined a budget... But if 1080s are more than 2070s, I would get a 2070. Even if they're the same price, I'd get a 2070. If a 2070 new is no cheaper than 480, I wouldn't get a 1080 unless you could find it for 400 or so.

 

edit: if you drop down to a 650W PSU and a 2.5" SSD instead of an M.2, you should have more money to spend. You won't notice a difference between an M.2 and a 2.5" SSD in everyday tasks and gaming, and a 750W is overkill for one GPU, but not enough for 2.

I would say don't even bother with a 2080, just get a 1080ti. The 2080, as it is, it's really expensive and RTX doesn't work very well to justify the cost at all imo.

I think you're just not looking at the right place (i.e. uk.pcpartpicker). Sapphire Nitro+ and Powercolor Red Dragon Vega 56 are both available at 350 quid (Strix at 360), while Asus 1070ti Cerberus cost 370 quid. Even Vega 64 Strix cost 400 only. All prices without tax btw.

 

Decent 1080 start at 510 pounds so nope, while 2070 (performs like a 1080, with RTX support) at 460. These arent attractive to me considering they are about 5-10% faster than cards I listed above.

 

cheaper 2080 cost below 700 pounds, while 1080ti start at 710, so choice on the high end is clear.
