I need a camera better than the Samsung Galaxy S7

Hi guys!

I like taking photos when I go hiking and stuff and the S7 takes pretty good pictures. However, when I look at them on the computer, they are a lot blurrier than I'd like and I don't compress them on Google Photos.

I attached a couple samples images.

What are some budget point 'n shoot cameras that are visibly better than the S7's camera? I'm speaking mainly in terms of clearness and detail, for lack of a better technical term haha.

Under $200 CAD preferably if that's possible. And bonus points for you if you find a rugged one too :D

Thanks!

You'd mostly be better served by a smaller dslr, like canon's xx0d series. You can get some stuff for cheaper than 200CAD, but mostly, the s7 will be more useable for that price.

If you were willing to step up your budget enough for a used 700d then its a different story but $200 point and shoots are usually not worth it.

Ok thanks. What about around $300?

The GoPro Hero7 is on sale for $310 here. Is that good for pictures?

Wouldn't be my first choice, I'd rather use my phone still.

If you can get a budget of maybe 400US it may be worth. Otherwise I’d probably stick to the phone. You could maybe find an older used dslr for ~300US

No. The sensor has weird color and is very noisy. The wide angle isn’t flattering for most pictures. Gopros are basically just smart phone sensors in a rugged, compact body.

Honestly at this low a price, it is hard to say. Just go on eBay and see what you can find from Canon and Nikon used. Prices for these low end cameras fluctuate widely, but almost anything from the past few years will be better than a smartphone for sharpness, and has zoom/ilc
