Microphone boom arm mounting solution?

I want to attach this NEEWER boom arm to my Dell U3417W monitor but the default mounting solution is just not going to work. This is a used arm that I am borrowing to troubleshoot problems like these before purchase, but the model is identical to what I plan to purchase. The only issue is the clamp, as it does not fit properly on this stand and has clearance issues that do not allow for a secure mount. Looking for some ideas.

mount it to your desk? thats how i have mine. i have a similar mount but that i made myself out of an old lamp and i just have that clamped to my desk

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

I'd probably need a longer arm to do so, but I'm open to different arms as well.
